How did you get started scrapbooking? Was it your child, a relative's child, death in the family, or just happened upon it one day and haven't stopped! I wanna know.
For me, it was my grandmother dying of cancer. She was diagnosed and fought for 8 yaers. A few months before she died I realized that I didn't know much about her and wanted to know more. Also, she was loosing some of her memory and I wanted to give her something to look at while she was in the hospice. I finished the album one week before she died. This was the proudest thing I had ever done and my grandfather was showing it at the funeral and wake. After that I just continued with each of my children and eventually started a BOM.

Having my daughter (34 yrs ago) got me started. I cut the pics the wrapping paper her gifts were in and started with that. As it has developed into a hobby I have gotten real into it and done many books, some that have to be redone because of a flood in '96 that all be distroyed all I had done! My mom salvaged all she could and just sent me my baby book and I have started redoing it most recently.

i got started a few years ago. i was at walmart and was looking for something fun to do in the arts and crafts area and saw the big kit things you can buy to get started. So i started a book of pics with me and my friends and family. then life happened and it wasnt really a hobby at that point like now. Then in sept 06 my son was born and i was home all the time and had cute pics of him and got back into it...his first year book is 81/2x11 cause thats all i knew at the time but his 2nd year is going to be 12x12...and since i have done a book for my mom and a few other little ones for my son.

I started scrapping about a year and a half ago. Not really sure how, I just thought I'd give it a try. Soon me and my best friend we would scrap every Sat night...ALL NIGHT and we had so much fun! Well, I continued scrapping, especially when i was unemployed...it made time go by faster and it actually let me forget for a while about all the issues I was dealing with. I still scrap with my friend, but she didn't really get into it as much as I did...I was the one who started evolving with learning different techniques and getting different tools, and she still has the same stuff we got when we started...we still have fun though and still pull an all nighter every once in a while!!

I still consider myself a bit of a newbie to scrapbooking. I'm still learning so many new things! I think I kind of started in highschool when I started adding more than just pictures to my (magnetic page) photo albums. I am a bit of a packrat and would keep lil momentos from special days and occassions and put them in my albums. It wasn't until I had my first child that I realized what I was doing could be so much more! I bought a little bit of stuff to start scrapbooking nearly 8yrs ago, but didn't get really into it. About 4yrs ago, this scrapbooking program came with a new printer we bought and then it really started! I had sooo much fun with that program, but the printed results I wasn't really happy with. I should probably look into getting them professionally printed. Anyhow, that's what got me to start buying more materials and tools. AND THEN I found all these scrapbooking groups on cafemom! Y'all always have so many great ideas! So here I am now. ;D Still more of a buyer than a real page maker! lmao I LOVE to look and buy! Just wish I could get myself to sit and make more! lol

I guess I would have to say that my mom inspired me since she was an scrapbooker from before I was born... I actually have a scrapbook she made for me before I was born.. it's simple standard paper size in a repot type cover... my baby book is cool since she saved all kinds of stuff to put in it paper from the shower presents.. cardboard from my first doll Holly hobbie..all the cards she recived and I recived growing up... she also made me a huge scrapbook that she lep all my artwork and awards.. so cool to look back at it and think wow I did that her photo albums were all titled and captioned LOL she learned Caligerphy(sp?) and trimmed and soften the edges... so even today they look great! I had decided to start saving up scrapbooking stuff during my pregnancy with my DS so I could scrap while I was home with him... were remodleing the house though so it was put on the back burner till now.... I love to see others pages and find out about new techniques I hope one day I can be as good as those I see.... I am happily scrapping from now on now that I have actually started and love it!....
